A Simple, quick but effective way to get yourself in the right headspace!

Why set Goals?

Why not? setting goals give you a clear direction and sense of purpose when it comes to the things you want to achieve in life.

I know what you’ve probably heard something along the lines of… “There is no point setting a new years goal because in a month you’ll probably forget about them” which to some extent is true. But I don’t think that’s the ‘goals’ problem, I think that it’s the way we set the goals which is the problem.

As people we change so often, the things you wanted to achieve last year won’t be the same as this year hopefully that’s because you’ve grown as a person. Nonetheless, it’s important to make sure you making adjustments along this journey of life to make sure your heart, mind and body are all aligned, right?

Process + Goals

One of the major factors to achieving any goal is the process in place to help us achieve the goal. They go hand in hand, if you don’t have a process it will be hard to achieve the goal, which in most cases we give up or forget. And if you don’t have a goal then the daily process becomes boring, mundane and worthless in the long run.

Focus on the system — the system is what will help you get to the goal. Most of the time we focus on the goal, but if it’s a big goal sometimes it’s overwhelming. By focusing on the process on which you will achieve the goal you’ll stay focused on track daily.

What I do

  • Set my ambitious goal(sometimes impossible to achieve in a year)
  • I then break this down to monthly/weekly and daily things I should incorporate to my life
  • I make sure I push myself at the beginning to stick to it, which then becomes a habit and easier to maintain.

By doing so I lessen the friction for me to do the thing I need to do to make sure I at least try to hit the goal.

Base your goal around your process e.g:

Instead of “I want to get healthy” be more precise:

“I want to be able to run 5K marathon”
